Things to do in and around East Medford
Medford sits at about 1,434 feet in the Rogue Valley, and a week here can be built around three things: downtown and the arts, the outdoors, and the wine country that surrounds the city.
Downtown and the arts
Downtown Medford is on the east side of Interstate 5. The Downtown Medford Association, a nonprofit formed in 2018, works on the downtown core and keeps a business directory and events calendar. It names recurring downtown programs including Forks & Friends Restaurant Week & Stroll, a third-Friday makers market and winter holiday lights.
The Craterian Theater is a downtown performing-arts venue, one of the older buildings restored during the city's downtown urban renewal. Check its own site for the current season.
Outdoors
Prescott Park, the Bear Creek Greenway and the city's neighborhood parks cover most of what you will want on foot or by bike. See our parks and outdoors guide.
Wine country
The valley has more than 150 wineries according to Travel Medford, and many are within about 30 minutes of the city. See our food, drink and wine guide.
Day trips
Crater Lake National Park, Oregon's only national park, is under an hour from Medford according to Travel Medford, which also keeps pages on waterfalls within an hour of the city and on regional attractions. Ashland and Jacksonville are short drives away, and Jacksonville is covered by its own Oregon Living edition.
