Parks and outdoors in East Medford

Prescott Park
Prescott Park, at 3030 Roxy Ann Road, is the city's largest park. The City of Medford says it totals about 1,740 acres: 200 acres donated by the Lions Club in 1930 and 1,500 acres bought by the city in 1931 under the Federal Lands to Parks Act, plus a 40-acre parcel whose records are unclear. It has paved walking trails, unpaved walking trails and equestrian trails. Access is from Roxy Ann Drive, off Hillcrest Road.
The city lists hours of 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. from March 1 through October 31 and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. from November 1 through February 28. Check the city page before you go, since hours and closures can change.
Bear Creek Greenway
The Bear Creek Greenway is a 20-mile biking and hiking path from Ashland to Central Point, passing through Talent, Phoenix and Medford. Segments were built in stages between 1973 and 1998, and the whole route was complete by 2011. Expect occasional root bumps and rough spots. Bear Creek runs through the east side of Medford, so the path is the easiest on-foot connection between neighborhoods here.
City parks and recreation
The City of Medford Parks and Recreation department publishes the full list of parks, facilities, rules, special-event permits and maps. We link to it instead of repeating it, because it is the source that changes.
